Managing a Quality Service

Being organised to deliver service objectives, and giving members of the public or service users a consistently good experience.

What this behaviour means

This behaviour is scored on service standards and consistency, not effort. Assessors want evidence you understood what a good service actually looked like from the user's perspective, and did something specific to protect or improve it.

What assessors are looking for

Common mistakes

How to structure your STAR example

Situation

Describe the service standard at stake and what put it under pressure — high volume, a process gap, inconsistent practice.

Task

State what quality outcome you were responsible for protecting or improving.

Action

Show specifically what you did — a check you introduced, a process you tightened, feedback you acted on from users.

Result

Give the measurable service outcome, and ideally something from the user's side (fewer complaints, faster resolution, more consistent decisions).
